Victory Garden 2012 Log - June 11

MG Georgia Townsend: Our Victory Garden group had an introduction to IPM, Integrated Pest Management, or A Common Sense Approach to Pest Control.  Pointed out were various strategies to keep pest populations and diseases in check in a cost-effective and environmentally sound manner.  Promoting and monitoring plant health, identification of pests and diseases and options for control (cultural, mechanical, chemical, genetic and bio controls) were covered.

Today's adventure into the garden included, thinning beets, mechanical control of Colorado Potato Beetles, staking tomatoes, laying soaker hoses and mulching with paper and straw.
