Spring Ephemerals

From the Native Woodland section of my shade garden.  Stuff in bloom.  Pictures taken May 8th, 2011



Note the Twin Leaf, or Jeffersonia diphylla in the background.  Bloomed a few weeks ago, but I missed taking a picture.  Seed head forming.  Nancy Miller's fancy striped lily of the valley in there, too.


This one is out in the woodsPink Lady Slipper or Cypripedium acaule, a native, North American Orchid



Back in the garden, a Yellow Lady Slipper, or Cypripedium calceolus.

Showy Orchis, or Galearis spectabilis (Orchis spectabilis)


Red Trillium, or Trillium erectum along with the Toadshade Trillium or Trillium sessile



Jack in the Pulpit, or Arisaema triphyllum



Jacob's Ladder, or Polemonium reptans
